Hi together, I just found this forum and I saw that there are some Laeken lovers here. I quick registered, and here I am I thought that is a good idea to give a quick introduction of myself.
My name is Alexandra, i live in Germany and I own two Laeken girls. Ceridwen and Chira des Fauves de Saline. Ceridwen (Carrie I say) lives with me and my husband, Chira lives with my father some footsteps over the street. I am working with both in obedience and tracking and we have a lot of fun together. You can see some photos of the girls on my homepage. The page is not ready at all. I collected only a few photos there. (Don't hit me please. Carrie was trimmed a few days later.
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
welcom on this forum i see you own two laekenois, what a great coat both's dog have, specialy the dark one is beautiful. Have you ever taken in consideration to do some "real" work like shutzhund/ipo?
Hi Alexandra, very nice pctures and very beautifu dogs. Are Ceridwen and Chira full sisters from the same litter? We here have 4 Laekenois, of 3 generations. The youngest one is a female of nearly 5 months old now.
@Jos I didn't take any Schutzhund training with my two girls. I our club there were no good trainers for this. They works to "hard" for my understanding of dog work. Unfortunately I have not the time to do all sports with them, so I decided to do obedience accurate and that needs a lot of time. Since last autumn we do tracking too. Both are learning very quick an it takes a lot of fun. Also Carrie have the job to escort me and my horse. She do not hunt any animaly like deers etc. and it is a pleasure to have her with me.
@Petra Carrie (Ceridwen) and Chira are full sisters from the same litter (hardly to believe). It was the last litter of Tequila van de Duvetorre from Bernard Rie. Chira comes near Tequila and Carrie has the colour from her father I think, Pelsens Tazan II.
Certainly we will come to the LFD in june! Since last oktober Carrie is approved for breeding at the DKBS (she passed her mental test etc.) and maybe we want to start breeding with her. This year I hope to find a matching male for her. Maybe there are some breeders who can help me a little bit? Here in Germany the breed club do not know much about the laeken.

a laekenois can't be trained for IPO the "hard"way, its a real sensitive smart dog which aquiers a special way of training. The dog has to trust you for 100% otherwise it does'nt work, he realyhas to be you mate. You wil see mine Cisse demonstrating IPO on the laeken fun day and than you' will find out that he isn't a "hard"dog at all but dispite his IPO-training very friendly and open to strangers.
Hi Jos, yes, as I know this (that a Laekenois can't be traind the "hard" way), so I decided not to train in our club for IPO. And as I know to less about it, I did not train for myself. My choice fell at the obedience training instead. This trainer saw the potentiality of the girls at our first meeting. And she trains her dogs very soft (what not means less off consequence) as well and this is my way too.
The male I had before my girls, was a mixed dog of german shephard and a mastiff. He was about 55 kilos ans almost 80 cm at his back. But he was a very sensitive dog. No time I had to shout with him. And with pressure I didn't got anything from him. This is the same with my laekenois girls too.
I am looking forward to next june. It is exciting to see so many laekenois at one place. In 2004 we went to Rotterdam and we were very impressed. Last year in Bergen op Zoom it was very great too. When we speak in germany about this, nobody can imagine that there are so many laekenois at the same place. The last tree years I met maybe 10 or twelve "german" laekenois, not more, and not all at the same time at the same place!
Greetings Alex

Welcome to this forum, it is always nice to see new members who own one or more Laekens! I have 2 myself: Yentl "Sjefke" van de Schranshoeve, and her daughter LongFields Nueva Esperanza Nozem. I love the pictures on your website, nice to see them so active together! I've got quite a few of those pic's of my girls as well, you can find them on my site: http://www.laekenseherder.nl or web-log: http://laekenseherders.web-log.nl .
Great that you will come to the Fun Weekend as well, I think we have been talking to eachother on one or more of the previous ones.
About finding a suitable male I have got some experience as well. It is very hard, since the gene pool is very small with the Laekenois. You also have to consider what is the most important thing you prefer in a male: character, health or exterior. Sometimes you have to make concessions to one of these points. For me health and character are the most important things, butthis can be different per breeder of course.
Well, I will check out your website regularly for new pictures or info. I will now add it to my favourites!?

hi Alex, to find a good male is hard to do. I read what Suzanne wrote. She is right. I only can help you giving names and looking in my pedigree program (1200 Laekenois) to see if the becoming parents may be are too close inbreeded for their offspring. So please if you see a nice male is your opinoin, you can send me his name and/or pedigree, maybe i can help to advise you. I also rather a lot Laekenois alive.

Hi together, I had less time the last week to answer your postings, sorry.
@hunden thanks for welcome me :-) I Ihink it is a good community here. I read much postings last week.
@susanne Yes, I know your website very well. I look at it weekly I do not understand much dutch language, but I like the very good pictures at your site!
@petra it would be very great, if you can help me a little bit. I spoke to my club and we also have a breeding programm there to use. But there are about 10! Laeken listed. :-( This is lesser than less and here in Germany are no Laeken breeders to talk to. It is great that I found this forum.
@all do somebody come to Dortmund this year? Maybe we can meet together.
