I like them all, and am doing Mondio because it is available. If I live long enough, I would like to do all of them. That way I can be half-a$$ed in all
At this point (in the USA) the only sport where you can be anything but "half-a**ed" is Schutzhund.? Our resources for French and Mondioring are limited...we do have a few good trainers, a few good decoys and a plenty of good dogs but they are spread throughout the country.? On an international playing field, USA has only been succesful in Schutzhund.?
I trained my boy for Schutzhund so my training skills could be tested against other trainers.? It is my perseverance that is tested in training for the ringsports trying to hunt down and work with the few good trainers and decoys.? My dog himself is tested not only by all three sports but by the work to do at home to evaluate our breeding stock (police type tests like building searches, muzzle work, hidden suit work etc.)
My boy's competetion history is nothing to be ashamed of either:
SchH 1-earned at out Southwest Regionals where he was HIT SchH 2-earned at the AWMA Nationals High Sch2 SchH3-earned at the AWDF 5th overall and High Protection Brevet-1st out of 6 dogs FR1-1st out of 5 dogs FR1-1st out of 5 dogs MR3-Highest Scoring American MR3
Where do you train Mondioring?? Are you training with a club?? We are in the process of forming a Mondioring club here in Southern California as the closest clubs to us are 8-10 hours away in Northern California.
Feist (MR3) and his sister Fauxtois (1st leg MR2) Lisa
Feist is Buko's uncle, and Fauxtois is his mom. Ludo is his dad. He was from the J litter Joiqeem or something crazy like that. I train with Colorado Mondioring. He is doing well, we lost some time to help the new decoy, which isn't good, and left it's mark for sure, but It is that or nothing. He 75% knows all the exersizes, with some more than that. I wanted to trial last fall, but everyone got busy and ooops, no decoy. I am working on trialing this fall. We will see, I am needing the work myself so Buko doesn't lose too many points due to me forgetting!
Awesome! Glad to hear Buko (formerly Joaquin) is doing well. I now have Buko's niece (Jumanji's daughter Ouija) so we are related twice!
When you have time, I would love some pictures!
Thanks for the congrats! In both Schutzhund and Mondioring, Feist's accomplishments are proof that even without regular access to a decoy, with patience and perseverance, you can title a dog.
I was told last week at training that there are some good pictures of Buko. I am not the camera guy for sure! If I can get anyone to give them to me, I will try and send them to you. All you really have to do is think of a lighter colored Feist, but with moms personality, or someone elses besides dad. Ludo is definately NOT who he took after.
That's ok Matty lol...I'm only 'baited' when I want to be
Far too often I find that people simply talk about 'Ring vs IPO'...But many fail to realize there is a difference in what the SPECIFIC Ringsports assess/test and what they produce...
ie., BR dogs are very different from FR dogs and they will produce progeny with different traits...
To understand this...people have to understand the philosophies behind each individual Ring-sport.? They have to understand what each emphasizes or focuses on...Each places importance on different aspects...even though they are ALL called 'Ringsports'...
Hope that explains a bit better what I was adding to Martine's post!?
But don't get 'me wrong'...I am NOT saying one is better than another...just that each is different and each should be considered on their own merit. ? (IOW, it's not just a matter of IPO vs. Ring...It's IPO vs FR vs BR vs MR etc...)
