One of my hopes for this was for us to talk about the different disciplines of our training and how that may affect this. Police Officers and Sport Dog trainers or any training discipline has loads of knowlege they can share and learn from each other. That might just be to difficult to accomplish.
As far as saftey goes that is, and will, ALWAYS BE MY FIRST PRIORITY. That is the reason I started this in the first place. I have given these scenarios with absolute saftey in mind. Jeff and I have pointed out saftey throughout this discussion. I have stated in both scenarios that the participants are in full bite suits or the dog in a muzzle, as well as saying to take these scenarios to their trainer or training club. I know that? Malndobe is a very experienced person so I am sure she will protect all her decoys as well as herself.
I have seen this too many times to not recognize that it frequently happens. Teus brings up a very valid point about experienced trainers helping in training. I cannot be present to set up these scenarios, instruct handlers and decoys. Therefore, I cannot be assured of the results of any attempt to re-reate these scenarios. I do feel I have set them up as safely as anyone can and if performed as instucted are perfectly safe.
Kadi--I thought about something last night. In the scenario of the two decoys and one going to the ground, I have never done this with dogs taught to target legs as in French Ring. I don't know if that would make a difference or not. If you try it, let me know your observations as to the dogs entry( did they hesitate looking for a leg or did it seem they changed targets becouse the decoy went to the ground and the leg target was not as readily available) or were the results as I expect? I would like to hear your opinion on this.
