I cannot comment on the second pic (1923) which Saskia posted as it appears to be a drawing and not a photo...and every artist has their own interpretation/vision of what they see...

That issue can be discussed. It has to do with the artist, if he/she is good enough and it also has to do with if that person did the drawing out of photos or from his mind.

I'll try to find more pictures but it is very difficult to have good pictures from that period.

Kind regards,

>> Heads anno 1913

I like this head, it looks like a lot of the working Malinois I see.

>>Heads anno 1923

Not so fond of these heads, the muzzles look a little long and thin.

When Im looking at this drawing I can see something is not drawn right, I`ve never seen any belgian head like this, even today. The proportions are not right, and yes the nose is too thin of thouse dogs. Not even my "flatheaded" (as Jenni call it) frenchlined showdog has this thin nose compared to the head.

Interesting article and few pics of dogs from early years - as dutch shep and bouvier but it is questionable.

Back then there were times when brindle dogs were not accepted as BSD and they were just registered as DS even if they had BSD as parent?  I think Rasha der Bastaarden is one example.
