« on: September 26, 2005, 02:45:21 PM »

Hi!

I checked internet for some herding articles for all those who are interested, we are thinking of herding with Raider and we think we found the club.

For swedish members who would like to herd here is a link to club that actually accepts all dogs not just border collies (thats what we heard but will check it out):

Couple herding articles for interested:

This is GSD Herding but ok, we could learn.. http://www.german-shepherdherding.com/index.html

Some articles from there:

http://www.german-shepherdherding.com/boundary.htm

http://www.german-shepherdherding.com/behavior.htm

http://www.german-shepherdherding.com/largeflock.htm

Quote
"Boundary" or "Continental" ? Continental Herding Dogs, including: German Shepherd Dogs; Bouviers des Flandres; and Belgian Sheepdogs often work on the smaller farms found in Continental Europe where the sheep graze in pastures right next to crop fields. These herding dogs are responsible for patrolling the boundaries to protect the crops from the sheep as well as to protect the sheep from predators. All Continental herding breeds have very strong protective instincts.

I?m sure there is tons more.. but got to start somewhere.. Wink

Bye, Raven
