A sad story that makes you think
« on: October 13, 2005, 01:54:52 AM »

Hello everyone, today a received a very sad news. A breeder friend of mine that breeds poodles, the best i have ever seen, more balanced and with a fantastic work abiltity died.

Just for this the story is sad, but since she had no relatives she left 58 poodles without anyone to take care of them.

These dogs were loved and very well taken care of in spite of the fact that they were so many, but she managed to have them allways very well and with a fantastic and outgoing attitude when presenting them at shows or when walking them on the street.

So these dogs were taken by the municipal kennel, that puted them all in one kennel, which is very small for 4 dogs imagen 58. As a result many dogs or injured, some bit the others, well a living nightmare for dogs that were allways well taken care of.

But fortunatly another breeder heard about this, as a miracle, and all the breeders in portugal and inclusive the portuguese kennel club mobilized all the efforts to take the dogs out of the kennel and try to replace them. In only on day we manage to replace 38 poodles, tomorrow i will go personaly to the kennel to get 3 to try and replace them. Hopefully tomorrow they will be all replaced.

Althought the nightmare is near the end , i can not stop to think on my dear friend imagening her friends sad and abandoned on a very tiny city hall kennel.

These as been a very difficult day for me as i know how much she loved her dogs and all the sacreficies that she did for them. I also spent the day thinking on what would happen to my dogs and cats if something like that happen to me and my wife, or to me alone.

And this is the reason why i decided to post this message, WE MUST ALL THINK ON A FUTURE FOR OUR ANIMALS IN CASE WE DIED.

THINK ON THIS!!!!

Rui

P.S. Tomorrow i will take care of my pets future in case something happens to me, i allready spoke with my layer today.

Hi!

Yes, very sad news? Cry! ! I read in a magazine just 2 weeks ago: WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR DOG IF YOU DIE? And I was thinking...yes, what will happen to them? Ok, I know my mother would love to take my Raider (nagging me all the time allready) and Raven would take Blueberry. If Raven would die too, then Blueberry goes back to Teus, he is the only one I would trust Blue to ofcourse.

Absolutely true.
We all easy make mistake to think dogs will be placed as we like to think so. But indeed police and state law tells otherwise. Very much needed to make it an official written statement.

For my dogs (as long as they are mine and not stationed at new location) I do have this official paper telling what would happen with them and what people have to do. Had made them about 6 years ago now when I started to fly out to foreign countries
((guess I might not trust airplanes that much  Undecided ))
