Click training
« on: April 24, 2005, 03:36:18 AM »

When I get my Mal puppy Wink I am looking to use click training for about the first six months, for basic obedience. ?The click is basically a marker which is consistent and good for timing. ?My dog will be trained in Schutzhund and personal protection work. ?What is everybody else's views on the click training?

I also use click sometimes still (dog is 2 years) in obedience training. Sometimes we also use it in protectionobediencetraining. I think it is a good tool but you have to remember to also reward with voice so the dog learns that too Wink
I also use it in tracking when she lays down for objects, she learned that much quicker with clicker than without.

I clicker train, it is a great training method. It makes the dog think, you can really see it's brain at work. I often teach my dog little tricks (though I don't keep up with them so she soon forgts them lol). One day I taught her to yawn with the clicker, and another day I taught her to shake her head. She's forgotten them by now.
