Hello, on sunday I took Blue (with his border collie friend) to Ronchi (Italy) to a little obedience - agility and herding competition.
It was a great day spend with friends and dogs who tried herding. It was Blue first time and he did really great (among 22 border collies, we achieved third place )
Well he needs some practice but I`m very pleased that it went so great for the first time.
So how was the whole experience and reactions of Blue when he saw sheep for first time? He imidiatly started running arround or was he going for em?
Well, he saw them right away and he didn`t stop looking at them all the time (as we were waiting).
When we entered the fold he was like: Oooo my dreams have come true ?, first he started running around, than one sheep started to run in the other direction, so he started running after her until she was back in the group.
The people that were watching said that the sheep were affraid of him because they are used to border collies that are smaller, Blue is bigger and more black...
The trainer (she has a bc) said that he is strong and confident but he needs someone in the feld who can controle him. He lost interest as she tried to command him (he does not work with anyone except me... ) So I should try some herding as well, so I would be able to lead him...
Well I will certainlly go there again it was really great to so as Raven said to see a dog doing the work that is in the genes (and see how he starts using his brains)...
