Yeah I know there are a lot of them next year, problem is my breeder wants it done as soon as possible and that's why I've been trying to get it to happen. I have a lead on one in Enk?ping this weekend though so I'm trying to phone them right now. Otherwise it'll have to wait till next year anyway. Thanks for letting me know, it's just so frustrating when you see all the events listed in Brukshunden and when you call half of them are cancelled without notice and the other half is full of dogs who need to get ahead cos they're gonna compete and they're coming up on 2 years. :-/
MH-test as this is called is demanded for every dog over 18moths that will start competing in workingtrials.
Many workingdog breeders test the whole litter at the same time, this can give some information what the parents have left when results are compared to eachother. All breeds can take part to the test.
BSD's (swedish owned) have to have this test done before using in breeding in Sweden othervise puppies will not be registered.
In evaluation you have to know just what the acceptable/desirable reactions and actions of the dog are in different situations during the test. This variates of course depending on which breed is evaluated, breedstandards are different depending on the breed. Naturally this test has now been developed for one thing, for divinding the good workingdog material from less good, and finding out what would be the most suitable workingarea for the dog regarding to it's abilities, just because of that it's probably most intersting and usefull test for workingdog breeds and breeders.
Anyhow this also is only a test... and should be not considered as the one and only truth about the dog... But it can be used in screening the mentality of the breed and therby used as one of the tools helping breeders in their choises for future breedingwork and evaluating the work that has been already done.
