Here you can see an video clip of an "nature-examination" for young dogs (between 9 and 18 month) This is the first step to be a breeding dog. Every examination is different.? Most points are 100, you must receive at least 60, this dog got 83 ! http://www.hundeverstand.de/Zecke_WP.wmv
Can you tell me more about the "nature" exam? What country uses it? I like it, it looks like a very interesting basic temperament test for a young dog.
Is the DMC k?rung divided in different parts, and you have to fullfill all parts to get a dog koerd? I haven?t found a written explaniation of the k?rung in English, so if anyone intressted to give some info what it?s all about I would be glad. Only seen pictures, and it looks similar to belgian ring routines.
please excuse my bad english, my schooldays lies behind me for a long time ; -) The nature-examination (I don't know whether this is the right word for it) is organized in germany of the dmc. it is the first checkup for future breeding-dogs. Without nature-examination, you cannot go to the K?rung. The nature-examination becomes usually in the age of 9 - 18 months, in which is put back one in the time when the dog isn?t good enough. the dog can pass it older than 18 months or fails, then it is not allowed to go to the k?rung. that builds of the n-e varied every time, the elements are similar all however. the n-e shall drive with it and dispositions of the dogs are judged: playdrive, instinct-constancy, leader-relationship etc
I've got some problems with a K?rung type testing, probably my personality but anyhow here it comes
1) A testing program is made to see if the dog is up to standards. Standards being what in statistics the average would be. If for your breedingprogram you want something specific you don't need an outsider to tell you that you may or may not use a particular dog. For instance i knew a Female which was extremely confident that wouldn't past the test in the video. The part where the men stand around her. She would simply put 2 or 3 in hospital. But she produced several good sons. On the basis of the testing she would have been refused
2) I have my doubts about the stability of the test as shown in the video. If a dog is tested several times in a few months time the testresults should be similar without any statistical relevant differences. I think that on a good day a dog may pass and the same dog on a bad day won't get the necessary points even if the dog is excelent. eg in BR last thursday Dorky became first on a "hard" trail and sunday he didn't even get 300 points on a " normal" trail. I think that this is also true for K?rung
3) Dogs can be trained to pass a test. If this test is done on green dogs it would be more reliable
