American Street Ring
« on: April 26, 2005, 04:53:02 PM »

Hi guys,

I was looking at the website of one of our most recent members and one of his female competed in ASR (had ASR1)

Apparently ASR stands for American Street Ring.

Can anybody explain?

In the US there are a number of sports that have similar framework as far as rules and objectives.
American Street Ring: www.americanstreetring.org

K9 Pro-Sports: www.k-9prosports.com

Protection Sports Association: www.psak9.org

Of these three I have only competed in PSA, but all three are reality based personal protection sports open to all breeds.  PSA has some good video feeds on their forum but you may have to look around for a bit to find them.

I compete in ASR, it is about to expand big time in the US. The BoD are about to start doing seminars for affiliated clubs, which they have just approved (having affiliated clubs) before, they didn't recognize clubs, you just competed. The current members seem to be really dedicated to ASR I believe.? Good turn-outs and spectators at trials. I personally have been getting alot of email and PM's from folks who want to do ASR asking me about it.? The people contacting me are from all over, West coast, Midwest, and up North and Texas.? They are also, soon going to incorporate some realistic agility, and in the future offer seperate tracking titles, designed with real life police work in mind. It is a protection sport geared also as a foundation for police dogs.? The scenarios are great, and it also, offers searching and apprehending a suspect in the woods. So it has nose work also, but not extensively long, aged tracks as the separate (FUTURE) ASR tracking titles would offer.? It's more the suspect just bailed out and ran in those woods get the K9 on him. The ASR BoD is probably the most awesome BoD ever assembled, the plans they have, is really going to expand ASR.

PS: what member was it with the ASR 1 female??
