Hi in my last litter I had two grey males and one Sable female, these three were better build than the 4 red ones.

So we do need the grey and sable ones some day to restore some faults in the so beloved red ones.

What do you mean by "bad" color? Just curious!
What about my dog Shocked

Any color that is not red should be considered as a fault - whether it is called grey or sable - according to the current breed standard.

What is considered as bad coat in my opinion are the sables.  They are neither red nor grey.  Although one should be carefull with sable puppies.  They can still become red when they grow-up (usually after they have shed their fur 2 or 3 times).  Even greys can become sable when they reach old age.

A grey male I find a perfect example of a beautiful grey is Klaar Perfect Grijs Geest (Ghost)

Linda,

I would say she is grey but on some pictures she seems to be sable but I think it is because of the sunlight.

She is sable like my girl, into the sunlight you see some red/yellow in the coat but into the shade all you see is grey.

Hi,

I breed Groenendaels and that is what I call my specialty.  I have always admired the greys and told myself that one day I would also own one.

Well my dream finally came through Shocked  I purchase my first grey male from a kennel called Z'Kovarny in Czech.

Quasimodo is now a Canadian Championship and didn't have any trouble acquiring it either.  He was shown very selectively and every time I took him out he got points!!!!!! Roll Eyes

Quasi is superbly built and have one of the most solid temperaments I have ever seen.  He will be turning 2 shortly.  He will be shown in specialties for sure.

I really like his color and it sure stands out among my black furry friends!

Long live the GREYS!!!!

Hi!
I had a Grey Tervueren female(it was my first dog) and I used to show her. Later I heared that they didnt like them in the rings in Belgium. If two Tervuerens where competing in the same ring, they always picked the red one, it didnt matter if the grey was better Angry How are they thinking now about the grey Tervuerens? Roll Eyes

I think they are beutiful... Smiley

Here is a photo of my Terv. ?According to his breeder in Czech, Quasimodo is considered a GREY Terv. in their country. ?That is also what it says on his pedigree.

Quasi is pictured here when he acquired his Canadian Championship title at 17 months.

Quasi is sable, the problem with the pedigree is that when you as breeder have to diside what color the pups have at that moment.

I had the same problem at the age of 6 weeks my girl Cheyenne was grey but now she is sable, same as her brother who went to the USA when he left with 8 weeks he was grey now I have recieved pictures fom him at 12 months and he is sable, their brother who's in Germany left
us at 9 weeks and was sable now at 12 months he is grey.

Red is easy it stay's red, there will be more black every year but on the pedigree will be the correct color.

Hi Mea,

Yes you do!!!!! Grin  Quasi's temperament is rock solid!!!  He is build like a tank this dog!!!!!  You should see him move!  I have never seen a dog do a such a natural full extection when he runs around the ring!  He literally floats in the air.  I am very proud of this boy!

Do you have more recent picture of Quaterlex?  I would love to see him.

Their littermate sister Qr?ole who was sold in the States also had a good temperament.  Unfortunately the woman never liked her from day one and rehomed her not long after she got her.  She was a beautiful bitch with one of nicest colors I have seen on a Terv for a long time.

I have a grey terv girl. She is at the moment just a puppy, but she is a sweet, wild, outgoing girl who is going to be a champion one day, - just because I say so  Grin This is our goal, and I am very sure that it will happen, but mainly she is trained for obedience and tracking. Nevertheless, there is nothing saying that a grey can't be a champion in the standard, so mine will  Tongue

Why don't they just make an new categorie then?
I've also got a grey one
and we went into the ring, just to see what that was
and everything was good, but the color should have been warmer they said
but we don't buy a grey one to be an other color, do we?
it's stupid!

I don't mind having them together with the Tervs.  All it took was one extra vote when the decision was made.  Who knows maybe they will be accepted once again in the future.
