Bonjour

It is really easy, take a look at;? ?

http://www.lescaut.com/Pedigree_chiots_leacy_mulrie.htm

and let me know what you think...

and would like to have comments from laeken breeders to know what they really think of this conbination !

I am conscient that this in not the kind of? conbination we have to promote? Ticked off? but in MY opinion Leaken really need new blood introduced in the genepool and I consisder that mulrie was the best male.? We also show some of our dogs in conformation but this breeding was done according to working ability? ?Evil

By the way Mulrie is intered in IPO 1 competition in 3 weeks and is already training at IPO 3 level in obedience and protection.?

Nice discussion! Intervariety breeding are always done, also in holland, belgium and france but some just don't tell. And as you now it is official permitted in several country.

If you are looking for one type of belgium shepard than in mine opinion there is nothing wrong with it, the first know belgiumshepards were intervariety's to.

But if you are looking for a real laekenois (the one's from breeding rough hairxrough hair for over 80 years) you must accept the fact he is different from the other varietys, from its looks: square heads with lots of garnishment, a bit curly hair, teddybear like as a pup, and in general impressive! And from its caracter: calm in the house, self assured, dedicated to his master, and suitebel for working IPO! (a real laekenois don,t walks in circels in its cage but is at ease!)

All BSDs should behave like this.

If I am right, Mrs JDecker is talking about the breeding of ULU and Usco and it is interesting to see that nobody in the discussion talk about the fact that malinois also carries long hair gene as Usco was.? Usco did give tervuerens in his progeny and I have a terv male who comes out of him.

No. The discussion is about a breeding that was done several years ago by Randie Meyers, Suncatcher Belgians, of USHAS de Fauves des Salines (Laekenois) x Othello of the Two (Tervuren):

http://www.midcoast.com/~classic/cymbals.html

At least one of the offspring from this litter, Lyric, has been bred, to Laekenois Upsilon de Fauves du Salines in February of '05, a linebreeding on Opium, but I have not seen the offspring in person.

Quote
...coarse and dry coat that was quite weavy when he was a pup(like usco)

Yes, the rough coat was part of Usco's selection for Ulu. It is very unusual to find that in Malinois that do not come from European showlines coming down from Iago. The knowledge that Usco was a known carrier of the longhair gene was a consideration but did not rule him out.

Unfortunately, the breeding just did not click in the way we had hoped. At this point none of the offspring from the Y litter have been bred, and I believe only two are intact, so it is unlikely we'll ever know if any of the puppies inherited the recessive LH from Usco.  Obviously the intention would have been to take an F0 from this litter back to an F3 Laekenois, which would make the likelihood of seeing LH extremely unlikely.

on this picture Shangai is 8 month and physically not at his best but you can see the coat. the adult coat is not totally grown but  beleve me it is very hard coat.

http://www.lescaut.com/shangai_de_lescaut.htm
