I'm looking for information on the van de oewa's kennel.

They produced the best dogs in the 60ies

Greetings

Johan,

As this kennel is from the 60's, I think you can contact Jean-Marie Van Butsele (Belgian Dog Association).  I know he has a lot of information on working dogs throughout the history of the breed and might even be able to provide you with pictures.

I did find some pedigrees.  You can find them here:

VAN DE OEWA?S

Hi Johan

Now you are really asking a lot.

However, perhaps this will help just a little.

As my own dogs go back to Enieke v.d. Oewa?s (NVBK11485) and Cieneke v.d. Oewa?s (NVBK10541), a daughter of the legendary multiple ringsport champion KIENER VAN DE OEWA?S (LOSH197867), who belonged to a Mr. J. Thomassen of Lanaken, I have done just a little research regarding the VAN DE OEWA?S kennel. The proprietor of VAN DE OEWA?S kennel was a Mr. Van Der Linden of Lanaken. A Mr. L. Van Der Linden of Lanaken was the handler of FRANK (LOSH174480), winner of the St. Hubertus Grand Prize of Belgium for Ringsport in 1960. FRANK was a son of CABIL.

CABIL

FRANK's pedigree: http://www.bloedlijnen.nl/stamboom.php?ID=644

Another son of CABIL, and full brother of FRANK, GUILKE (LOSH176946), was also used as a stud by VAN DE OEWA'S, and won the Grand Prize in 1961. GUILKE was owned by J. Geraerts of Lanaken. FRANK was the father of MARKO (see below).

KIENER

KIENER is, unquestionably, the greatest working Malinois of all time. KIENER was a son of CAM VAN BURGONDIE (LOSH166267). Pedigree of CAM: http://www.bloedlijnen.nl/stamboom.php?ID=178

KIENER breeding info: http://www.alfirin.net/cgi/breeding.pl?op=breeding&index=46044&gens=5&db=pedi2001.dbw

VAN DE OEWA?S PEDIGREE QUICK SEARCH: http://www.alfirin.net/cgi/geneal.pl?gens=5&pattern=oewa&db=pedi2001.dbw&op=kwsearch

The VAN DE OEWA?S kennel joined the NVBK after the breakaway from St. Hubertus, hence it is very difficult to research the dogs bred by this kennel, unless you were an NVBK member from the 60s onwards.

KIENER was the main stud dog of the VAN DE OEWA?S kennel. Other dogs they used as studs were CARAK, CABIL, CHOCO, DONALD, and GLADDY VAN DE PURPERE HEIDE (LOSH 179519). GLADDY belonged to a Jeff Vandenbroek of Heusden, who also owned and competed in ring with CANAK. CANAK VAN DE OEWA?S (NVBK10361) was winner of the NVBK Ring I Championship in 1970.

One of the most famous Malinois in Holland was the so-called x-Malinois named MARKO. This dog was the Dutch Police Dog Champion in 1969. In fact MARKO ? like many other so-called KNPV x-Malionois - was NOT an x-Malinois at all, but as purebred as any Malinois could possibly be; i.e. he was actually CUNIC VAN DE OEWA?S (NVBK10362), born 22-03-1966. Pedigree: http://www.bloedlijnen.nl/stamboom.php?ID=66. MARKO'S father was FRANK (LOSH174480), see above.

MARKO?S working trial accomplishments were:

PH I 320 points
Dutch Champion PH I 1969
8th Dutch Championship PH II 1970
6th Dutch Championship PH II 1973

The VAN DE OEWA?S, together with the VAN DE MOLENBEEK kennel, laid the foundation stock of most of the best working Malinois we have today, both NVBK and St. Hubertus registered.

Proprietor of the VAN DE MOLENBEEK kennel was a Mr. Oscar Van Hover. He produced two St. Hubertus ringsport champions, namely SNAP VAN DE MOLENBEEK (LOSH89871), who won in 1942/43, and VABIL VAN DE MOLENBEEK (LOSH135542), winner in 1951, as well as two other famous dogs, VARAK VAN DE MOLENBEEK (LOSH) and VESTALINO VAN DE MOLENBEEK (LOSH). VABIL, VARAK and VESTALINO were all sons of the famous SIROL VAN HOVE (LOSH114301). Pedigree:

Other minor but important working Malinois kennels of the time appear to have been VAN?T GULDEN VLIES, VAN BURGONDIE, and DE KLABOUTERIE.

For more info is suggest you should really contact the NVBK, visit their office and browse through their magazine, in which you are sure to find at least some information.
