"After different meetings and discussions within the Board of Directors of the NVBK in Belgium, the following text constitutes the final rule to support clubs from outside Belgium. Several times the NVBK has tried to support the formation of a board in the U.S to work independently, to bring the Belgian Ring program of the NVBK to North America. Our attempts have not been successful, we believe, as a result of political conflicts and business interests.
Clubs can be formed by individuals interested in the NVBK program under the following set of rules.
- Every club is free to affiliate directly to the NVBK Belgium. - The fee for affiliation is 40 euro each year. - If 5 clubs are affiliated in a certain country or region, they may (but are not obligated) elect in a democratic way a board of 4 people consisting of President, vice president, secretary and treasurer. The NVBK reserves the right to approve the procedures to ensure they are democratic and representative. - A member from a club outside Belgium, affiliated to the NVBK, can participate in the trials or competition in Belgium NOT in the national championships or Grand Prix. Trials organised outside Belgium require at least 1 official judge from the NVBK before the NVBK will recognise the score. The NVBK will select the judge when a request is made by a club. - People who are interested to become a judge in their own country shall have the possibility to do the necessary tests in Belgium. - To make any official trial there must be at least 5 dogs entered in the trial."
Hi, 15 years ago we restarted from zero with pedigrees on [for our] dogs, because the younger people wanted to know [more regarding] where the dogs came from. Our paperwork is to follow our good bloodlines and especially, also when you have a dog in training, through the pedigree you can find out that one of his parents had a same training problem. If this is the case it makes it easier to change [adapt] your training.
The pedigree goes with the dog and mentions only champion?s titles.
Also keep in mind that a title doesn?t make the dog.

Hi, the dogs in the NVBK only get titles when they win a championship, national or regional, or the Grand Prix. We find [it] normal that a dog starts in category 3 (young dogs), after he scores 5 times 300 points he becomes a category 2 dog. After a score of 3 times 340 he becomes a category 1 dog. The different categories are not mentioned on the pedigrees.
It seems that in Belgium they [we] like more [are more interested in] the dog himself than the titles.
NOTE: Germain took the trouble to learn English before he traveled to the US (can you imagine the President of ST HUBERTUS doing that - I think NOT!) to help set up the NVBK there, and his English is still improving. I?m sure the above is quite understandable and quite informative, if not as detailed as some of us would like.?.
Well, there's nothing stoping anyone contacting Germain direct for more info.....
Here are the requirements in Dutch (sorry no English-language translation available as yet) for registering a litter with the NVBK, published on the NVBK?s official web site: www.nvbk.be
For your information a sample DECLARATION OF MATING FORM can be downloaded here: http://users.pandora.be/ringsport/DEKAANGIFTE.doc From this it is clear that the NVBK's requirements are every bit as strict as those of any other organisation.
