I just joined the forum (obviously ) and I have one Tervueren (Sunnie, who is 14 months old) and 1 Groenendael (Draven, who is 2 1/2 years old). I didn't know about the breed until 2 1/2 years ago when I bought Draven. I was actually looking for a German Shepherd rescue and came across a rescue site outside of Toronto, Ontario. She actually bred Belgians and had a belgian shepherd/german shepherd looking for a home (which is how I found her). However, by the time I contacted her, the belgian mix had found his forever home. She had a 4 1/2 month old pup that was too timid for the show ring and she didn't have the time to work with him. I went up to see him, fell in love with him and now can't see owning any other breed of dog. Draven loves the frisbee and ball throwing. I'm going to get him started with the frisbee competitions this spring. Sunnie, I adopted last fall when he was 9 months old. He doesn't see the fun in chasing a ball or a frisbee (he didn't have anyone to play with) and it took him along time to understand chew toys. I'm going to start Sunnie in Agility if I can get him over his timidness around people (he is terrified of strangers as he wasn't socialized with people until after I bought him and it's still an issue we are slowly working on). I have pictures but I have to get them changed over to digital to put them on the computer (don't have a scanner )
Welcome, I also have both Groen and Tervs, best breed in the world. Glad that your two have a lovely home doing agility and frisbee will give them so much confidence. My groen loves agility, tried the show ring but doesnt like men going over him as he had a bad experience with one when he was a puppy. Keep going with all your training and do post how you are getting on, love to hear.
